Our First Energy Saving Case Study

The reason we are named Epiphany …

The first time we fitted this system we took some readings from the customers existing system first, for comparison later, we placed a thermometer on the radiator and placed one in the centre of the room, they both read 19 deg C. We turned the heating on and started a stopwatch, 30 minutes later the radiator was 56 deg C but the room temperature had only gone up by .2 of a degree. This is because the boiler was trying to heat all of the water in all of the pipework and all the radiators at once. So, the room temperature rose very slowly.

We installed the Epiphany system and ran the same test, the starting temperatures were the same. The Epiphany system can run one radiator at a time so we turned the system on from the controller in that room.

3 minutes later the radiator was 65 deg C and the room temperature had gone up by 2.2 deg C. Compared to 30 minutes and .2 of a degree with the previous installation.

So with 27 minutes less boiler run time and gas used (CO2 emmitted), we had a radiator that was 9 deg C hotter and a room that was a whole 2 Deg C warmer.  That was the moment the penny dropped, the epiphany, we’d invented an energy saving system that worked, without smoke and mirrors, and was based solely on good design, maths and physics.
